Radial seals are mounted on the hot & cold end rotor diaphragms (“radial spokes”) and seal against the radial sector plates. Once installed, they should be set for the proper “turn-down” (thermal growth) of the air heater. Radial sector plates should also be checked for proper alignment to insure minimal leakage.
Axial seals are mounted axially on the shell portions of the rotor and seal against the axial seal plates. Like radial seals, they should also be set for the “turn-down” of the air heater. Axial seal plates should be checked for alignment as well.
Basic Materials unless otherwise specified:
Bypass seals are found in axial type air heaters in both hot and cold ends. They are retained by mounting angles that are fixed to the ductwork portion of the air heater (connecting plates). They seal against the rotor “T-bar” fixed to the outer circumference of the rotor. ( Seals are stationary, sealing surface rotates with rotor )
Basic Materials unless otherwise specified:
Seals can be made in the standard two part seal or can be welded together for easy installation.
Circumferential seals are equipped in the hot and cold ends of non-axial type air heaters. They are retained by mounting angles bolted to the circumference of the rotor. The circumferential seals wear against the sealing rings, which are welded to the surrounding ductwork. ( Sealing surface is stationary, seals rotate with the rotor)
Basic Materials unless otherwise specified:
Seals can be made in the standard two part seal or can be welded together for easy installation.
